November 27th USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report

Producers continue working on fall tillage and completing harvest activities across the state. There were 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 26. Statewide, the average temperature was 40 degrees, 1.2 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.0 inches, 0.76 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 10 percent short, 83 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent very short, 17 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Winter wheat emerged was at 95 percent, compared to 95 percent for the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated 5 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 15 percent excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated 8 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 38 percent good, and 2 percent excellent.
