June 19th USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report

Farmers made good progress on harvesting wheat last week. There were 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the
week ending June 18. Statewide, the average temperature was 78.3 degrees, 5.8 degrees above normal.
Precipitation averaged 1.76 inches, 0.79 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent
very short, 19 percent short, 72 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1
percent very short, 13 percent short, 83 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Corn condition was rated at 2
percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 46 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Soybean planting
was 97 percent complete, compared with the 5-year average of 94 percent. Soybeans emerged was at 92
percent. Soybean condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 56 percent good, and
11 percent excellent. Winter wheat harvest jumped to 65 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of
24 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 5 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 46 percent
good, and 18 percent excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27
percent fair, 50 percent good, and 16 percent excellent.
