Widespread rain across the State helped crops and pastures. There were some reports of minor flooding and ponding on fields in the southern part of the state. Statewide, the average temperature was 74.5 degrees, 1.6 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 2.11 inches, 1.26 inches above normal. There were 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending July 10. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 9 percent short, 79 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 12 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Corn silking reached 53 percent, a jump of 31 percentage points over last week. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 20 percent excellent. Soybeans blooming was at 39 percent, compared to 28 percent last year. Soybeans setting pods reached 7 percent. Soybean condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 16 percent excellent. Winter wheat harvest reached 95 percent complete, compared to 79 percent last year. Oats harvested reached 17 percent. Pasture and range condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 16 percent excellent.
