November 13th USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report

Cooler temperatures and some rainfall were common across the state last week. There were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 12. Statewide, the average temperature was 37.3 degrees, 5.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.47 inches, 0.24 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 9 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 6 percent very short, 18 percent short, 74 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Corn harvested for grain was 90 percent complete, compared to 96 for the 5-year average. Soybean harvest was 95 percent complete, compared to 99 percent last year. Winter wheat planted was at 95 percent, compared to 95 percent last year. Winter wheat emerged was at 85 percent, compared to 78 percent for the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated 7 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated 6 percent very poor, 15 percent poor, 45 percent fair, 33 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.
